– The Precis Guide to the Perfect Petite Holiday Wardrobe
So, your long awaited summer holiday is finally here – and you’re just about to do the thing that most women hate. Packing! We here at Precis like to help though – so here’s our top tips to help you pack the essentials! (View our catwalk videos)
Make a list
Firstly make a list of what you want to take, and what you think you should take. Think about where you are going, what you will be doing and who you will be seeing. The trick is to make the two lists tally! The other great thing about listing everything is that you can tick it off as you lay things on the bed at both ends of the holiday – and so you will never leave anything behind.
Leave some room
Always leave some room for shopping abroad. If you don’t manage this – let’s face it, a suitcase is there to be filled generally – try to squeeze an empty holdall flat into your case for those amazing bargains that you had to have and those essential mementos of your trip!
Pack in stages
Lay stuff out on the bed a week before if you can, so you have time to live with your choices. Sounds bonkers I know, but the more times you survey the outfits, the more brutal you’ll be in the editing stage. Mix and match as many outfits as you can and ask yourself do you really need this? Don’t take one million pairs of shoes – generally for a week’s holiday in the sun you can get away with one pair of flip-flops, a pair of trainers and some fab heels.

The ideal beach holiday wardrobe
An ideal beach holiday wardrobe would consist of about 3 or 4 gorgeous bikinis and one sexy swimsuit. A great tip we picked up was to change your swimwear just before lunch of you can – then you don’t have to sit down in a wet bikini. Genius! Pair your swimwear with versatile cover-ups for the beach – such as a light kaftan or tunic which can be belted and worn over linen trousers in the evening. A great petite dress or maxi dress is another great option as you can wear it during the day whilst sightseeing or shopping, and then dress it up with jewellery at night. Short summer dresses are cute too, as they are a chic poolside cover up, which also work well for cocktails at night! You’ll also need a pashmina or scarf to cosy up in on the plane, and this can double up as a chic cover-up for the evenings too.

| A few pretty tops
Shorts and t-shirts or a few pretty tops are a must. The tops are an easy way to create different looks for day and evening with trousers and skirts – and we’re all for versatility. Rolling rather than folding them is a great way of saving room in your case, and reduces the need for ironing when you get to your hotel. |

Footwear
Footwear wise, you only really need a pair of flip-flops for the day and some great wedged espadrilles at night. But how many women really only take two pairs of shoes on holiday?! Try and be good though and not take more pairs than the number of days you are away! A wide brim hat is also a great travel companion as not only is it really elegant but its practical wide shade will shield your face from the harsh sun. Don’t worry about how much space it will take up in your case – pack your delicate items in the bowl of the hat to protect them. |
